So you've saved up your money and now going to buy a flat screen TV. Perhaps you have settled on a LCD or Plasma.

I hope you didn't spend all of your money on the TV because there a few things you may want to budget for if you are not particularly handy around the house.

Where are you going to install your Flat Screen?

If you are going to mount your TV on the wall there is something very important for you to consider

Do you have a TV outlet installed at the height you want your TV? Even if you said yes...I am sorry it will not be enough. Allow me to explain.

You would be surprised how many new homes are built this way. They install just a simple TV jack over the fireplace. The homebuilders are totally clueless. Unfortunately, its up to you, the homeowner to foot the bill to wire this correctly.

So what can we do about it?

If you want the best signal possible, Then HDMI cables are the way to go. One HDMI cable run thru the walls will do the work of all of those other wires we spoke of moments ago. To have this professionally done I would budget from 5- 5 for HDMI cables, depending on how long they need to be.

You can probably save two hundred dollars if you do this yourself.

Remember that buying the flat screen TV is just the beginning of your investment to have HD TV in your home.

The letter I is about the fourth most common letter used in English. That is because of the common suffixes -ing and -ion and because of the very common words it, is and in. When it comes to beginning company names, I is not such a popular choice. Just three of the top one hundred brands of 2009 in a list compiled by Interbrand begin with I -- IBM, Intel and Ikea.

Those three names show the reason why names beginning I are not very popular -- pronunciation. The I of IBM is said like eye, the I of Intel is pronounced like the vowel sound in the middle of the word bit and in Swedish the I of Ikea is pronounced like the ee of green, but different countries pronounce the name differently.

Most European languages pronounce I the Swedish way (as in green or eat), but that is not the typical English pronunciation. If you aren't happy with the color, throw on a couple coats of paint or wrap them with contact paper or your favorite wrapping paper.

2. Adhesive Business Card Sleeves - Although these work great for the inside of a file folder to hold the business cards for your client or vendor, you can also use them to label things. Place one on each filing cabinet drawer and write on the back of some of your old business cards what is in the drawer. Use them on the back of the magazine holder so you know which client or project it is for.

3. Over-the-Door Shoe Rack - I have talked about these before and they are brilliant to use for office supplies. Simply put one over the back of your office door and you have instant space for printer cartridges, extra pens, staples, tape, etc.

4. Coffee Mug - Why not use one of the numerous coffee mugs you have in the house for your pens and pencils? It doesn't have to be a traditional ugly one, maybe one of the more decorative mugs or if you really want to remind yourself what you left behind use the coffee mug from your last employer.

5. Gift Tags - If you love to label all of your baskets, boxes, or binders try using some of the colorful gift tags you find at the store. Not only do they brighten up your space, you have something uniquely you surrounding your space. Plus it's a cheery way of reminding you that there is work to be done.

6. Metal Strips - You may not necessarily need a cork board even if you like to hang things up where you can see them. IKEA has some great metal magnetic strips for $.99 that work out spendidly for hanging up notes, coupons, deadlines, or articles that have been written about you and your new endeavor.

Try not to worry so much about setting up your office to look like an office. You may find that you are more inspired to work when you feel like you working for you and not for someone else. The most important piece of working for yourself is having a work environment you can work in and one that works for you.

The first thing you should do when you are on a tight budget and are looking for bookshelves is to hit garage sales, flea markets and thrift stores.  As long as the bookcases are the height and width you need, and are solid, buy them.  You can easily antique, spray paint, or even wallpaper a simple bookshelf!

Used bookcases are easy to find, but go really fast.  So check out ads early, and be among the first at the sales.  It doesn't hurt to check Craig's list and eBay, either.

The old college dorm trick for making shelves is always a good idea...as long as the kids are  a safe age and height and won't be climbing them.  All you need is a few concrete blocks, glass bricks, standard red house bricks, or even those heavy plastic crates and some solid unwarped, inch thick planks.  But if you use the plastic crates, fill them with your heaviest books to make them solid for anchoring the wood.

Ikea has a great site for inexpensive bookshelving.  However, be aware that it will need either assembly or wood finishing or both. The home improvement centers and discount centers also carry shelving that requires home assembly.

If your rooms are too small for large bookcases, and you need more storage, you can make solid nightstands from an old wooden trunk.  Just remove the lid, stand it on end, and add two or three shelves, and it will serve well for both functions. If your room is wallpapered, use the leftovers on the nightstand.  It will make the room appear larger as it blends into the wall.
