Hooking up an HDMI output from your DSLR Camera to a full size monitor will let you see with better clarity what your camera is viewing. It's a great way to view playback of the scene you just shot. It's also great for shooting a blog. The camera is pointed at you, you can have the monitor facing you so you can see how the take is going. Monitor Stands are expensive because they have the word 'Monitor' in front of them. A DJ speaker stand on the other hand is much sturdier and cheaper. I've modified my stand to make a Monitor Stand.
